Despite my repeated plea for her to come back and my willingness to compromise, she refused to come back and berated me in her emails by ending "see you in court" in every email.Now I am receiving her lawyer's and the plumber's lawyer's threatening email asking for payment or else they will file a lien.After they left, I've been working on the house by hiring new contractors or doing it myself to save money.

@Nick CoonsI started my career with a house hack but not in the traditional sense, I had a young family and my wifes compromise was no one was living in our house and she wanted to own.

Is there a way to put a 48" opening with a secure door onto the side that would be cheap enough to do without compromising the structure? 

My bf wants a house next and we compromised on that before doing anymore investment properties/duplex.

But I and wife do splurge every 3 to 4 months on a vacation so that’s something where we don’t compromise. 

I would not compromise on requiring renter's insurance.

It is a compromise between getting rid of tenants too soon and giving them too much leeway.

Anything they deem a safety issue, or that could compromise the safety of the banks money falls under their perview.

You don't want to remove anything that will compromise the structural integrity of the home. 

Some compromise mixed with firmness could be in order.
