There are a lot of scenario's where even though you own the property in an LLC - something happens that "pierces the corporate veil" and the LLC doesn't provide the liability protection it was designed to do.

The question that you should review with your Attorney is would that adding of yourself onto the LLC policy make it more likely a suit could break through the Corporate Veil and lead to a lawsuit against you.You can also check with your personal Insurance agent to see if your homeowners or umbrella would respond if the veil was pierced

Hi @Cherie Pierce, based on Fannie Mae guidelines, when calculating DTI analysis, you can include the rental income on your primary residence, however, only to be used to offset the converted property's PITIA .

Based on my research it looks like we cannot get a conventional loan in the name of an LLC and it seems like if I get a loan under my name it would "pierce the corporate veil" and negate the liability protection of the LLC.

Of course, the general consensus is that an LLC will limit your liability in case of being sued, but that is only true if the court doesn't rule that the corporate veil is being pierced, meaning that you executed every aspect of your business properly.
