Maybe this is a bad idea but this is the only option I have available or see within my limited knowledge so far.

Reality is you need to have knowledge of real estate principles, real estate law and real estate finance to be a successful real estate investor.   

It also requires gaining a level of sophistication and knowledge that not everyone has the time, inclination or ability to do.

I found all the people there to be so helpful and knowledgeable!

The facilitator is very knowledgeable about that market and meetings are free. 

I'm sure a lake house does solid year-round there with your knowledge combined. 

But, if the cost is fairly nominal, maybe under a couple grand, and you have no experience in real estate, including owning your own home and hiring contractors for that, then it is likely worth it.I would always start with a deep assessment of where you feel you don't have adequate knowledge.
