Maryland is a good state for tax lien certificate sales because the interest rate is 6% to 24%, but each county and/or municipality handles sales differently, which can make it a pain to track what is going on.VERY IMPORTANT: The redemption period is six months to two years, again because counties and municipalities have different rules.

@Tony SepassiAbout half the states are Tax Certificate states and about half are Tax Deed States, rules vary widely, here all liens transfer to the new owner including taxes, municipal liens, mortgages, liens, judgments, etc.
