My family had rental property when I grew up so I've at least been exposed to making repairs between-tenant and all the other fun landlord tasks.With that said, it seems the current market, at least in my area is pretty tough to get the numbers to work, single family especially.

I laugh because i grew up doing everything, but if no one taught them its the last generations fault, not theirs.

I’m from Lowell, grew up there and own 2 multis there myself. 

It wasn't terribly difficult for me to live frugally - I grew up so poor my stories make most people cringe - so just living below my salary and socking away the difference was pretty easy.
