Add to that the facts that 1) the land in Point Mackenzie likely needs a lot of development before major expansion and 2) the currently populated aras of the Mat-Su Valley will have an equal distance to travel whether they use the bridge or on the existing highway route and 3) Anchorage is the 'big city' with a much higher proportion of 'culture' and infrastructure....

Mike Berlay No offense to those who live there but be ready for the major culture shock when leaving NYC or any big major metropolitan city for a more rural area.

And like you, we are planning on heading out of country for a year or so before too long so the kids can learn another language and get a taste of another culture.

Leavenworth for some German culture..

So the culture respects education, but the education quality is poor.

Same language, pegged currency and culturally familiar, and on its early growth trajectory. 

I'm feeding my desire to travel and experience different cultures, while getting paid to do it and not come back from each trip dead broke =)Cheers!
