I personally would go with cedar and have vertical posts spaced 5 inches apart.

Sometimes the termite cards are on water heater or attic/crawl space access.

Or an extended family that wants their own space.

I have not taken the classes, but seems as legit as it's going to get in this space.

I have a lot of respect for your knowledge of the L/T space, but in this case I disagree with your logic.  

It can be seen from space apparently!   

Not only that ^^^^ but if you are converting 'Non Living space' into 'Living Space', you could face other problems down the road.
