I have seen where people with some space to spare will lease some of the POD units, stick those on their property and rent them as storage.

I find it unlikely that he just had spare bags lying around because they’re so messy and can’t be stored outside.

I did something very similar with my wife, but by renting out the spare bedroom and the guest suite on Airbnb.

Lesson learned - Spare no expense and HIRE THE RIGHT LAWYER.

@Ken Eck  If you notified the PM with time to spare, then I would remind him of that. 

If it were that easy everyone would do it. the realistic way to do your first deal is to either house hack (buy with no money down and rent out the spare rooms), save up the 20% and buy an investment property with a typical mortgage, or partner with someone where you find the deal and they bring the $$. hopefully that’s somewhat helpful.

Business can be operated full time, part time or in your spare time.

The plan is to buy and hold while living in it and potentially renting out the spare room to traveling medical professionals intermittently. 

I figured I would rather keep it than trash it as I could use a spare fridge for my garage.I'm also interested in the legal boundaries of this question though.

I would manage them myself and spend my spare time enjoying life or continuing to build the portfolio.
