It's not new, it's a 2019 law.

I was formerly in law enforcement and saw a lot of this kind of thing with people repeatedly calling in for burglars in the attic, imagined break-ins, etc. 

The sadest part about these frivilious law suits and/or claims is that the insurance comapnies almost always give them something, this is why they continue to do this

If it's just speculation, start by reviewing the law to see if there are any unique requirements for a business.

Either get a property manager to take over, hire a lawyer or get an education.It literally took me less than 5 minutes to search the KS Attorney General website for any law saying you can't do this.

What if a tax accountant has a lot of knowledge and experiences of tax laws including investment, would it matter?  

Generally speaking its better to be a landlord in Virginia as the laws are more pro landlord. 

@Laurence Walsh-Hodson not sure of the laws in Indiana, but here in Michigan, we do NOT need a contract for each door.
