What I would suspect is that the clog happened in the sink and it's a combination of long-term wear and tear (which caused buildup and narrowing of the drain) and then one thing that got stuck in exactly the wrong place.

@Dominick Galinis specific but narrow point - it's much more difficult to BRRRR if you use conventional financing and put 20% down on the purchase.
