Unless you’re rent is waaay over $2,000/mo and you lost your job and you don’t qualify for state unemployment because you weren’t declaring your income I don’t see how you can’t pay rent.

@Savannah Watkins the rules are that you must have lived in the property for 2 of the last 5 years, so you can rent it out for the year and still be in the rules to declare it as your principal residence.
