got it same thing goes though you don't hand over the keys to the castle until you have your dough.. you are learning this one now.and you are also learning that signing docs does not mean anything if the money does not follow.good luck with it.. and you will get over it... good luckAnd yes with commercial you want to think the buyers are more professional for sure.but its not over till the fat lady sings and you have wired funds into escrow.

I was thinking getting building approval or an occupancy permit might be tough with storage containers.

Or is this a scenario where I might legitimately charge some small extra amount for the basement (such as for storage) - or otherwise just keep it locked off separately from the rest of the house?

For example if you were very overweight, you may crack some fat jokes about yourself.

Detached one car garage, large basement for storage and laundry (also new).

I am living in SF and buying in DFW, mostly MF and self-storage.  

He told his coworkers he was going to go a million dollars ( this was worth more in the 80s, not so much today) into debt to build new apartment buildings and storage units.

Lots of storage space etc.
