I was living in Los Angeles, CA, so I feel your pain.

I have to go out of state because I live in Los Angeles and real estate here is absolutely ridiculous.

And in places like Los Angeles, taxes are based on a specific percentage of  assessed value.So it really depends on the county!

I can't speak for Tampa, but back in the day for Los Angeles County there was a minimum bid at the auction at the courthouse steps and then it went up from there.

I know too that with all these professions (realtors, LOs, insurance agents) that considerable time is also spent with prospects or clients where they do not get paid at all.
