If you think you can manage a mortgage, taxes, insurance and the upkeep of a home while paying your student loans then buying is not bad idea but if you think you will overstretch yourself renting is nto bad either.

They cited insurance reasons, which could very well be true, but many residents felt it as a big "f you" Now folks from outside the community could argue this was an entitled stance from the residents, to feel they had access to this private land when they didn't, and that on the face is certainly true.

Property taxes are 650, insurance 160, outsourced property management takes 10% of the rent, and another 10% of the rent is set aside each month for future repairs. 3750 x 0.8 = 3000. $3000 profit, minus about $2300 in mortgage, property taxes and insurance leaves about $700 cashflow, when I move out.
