In rare instances we will let someone pay through Square or Stripe, with them paying the cc fee, but only in unusual cases, such as one time with a tenant who was traveling and didn't have a bank account to use with our online platform.

Their explanation is that the banking service they use (Thread Bank) and their agreement with Stripe (payments) leaves them with no choice but refund if such a request is made, even though they have records of the tenant authorizing payments via their own platform.

They have their own payment platform (you could use Stripe... or GuestyPay), they have their own dynamic pricing (you could use PriceLabs... or GuestyPricing), they have their own smart locks (you could use RemoteLock... or GuestyLocks), etc.

PadSplit is not passive but it has been a mostly positive experience for me.His numbers seem realistic except PadSplit fees are typically 14.75% (not 14.25%)which is a 12% platform fee and a 2.75% stripe fee to allow members to pay their rent w a credit card.
