Is there good research that shows the benefit and effectiveness of staging a home for sell versus not staging the home? 

If you have something better in mind to do with your money I would sell.  

My primary now will sell for $750k, I owe $290k, this will allow me to buy 2 $400k homes. 

That means if they sell it, they will pay taxes on nearly the entire sale amount which could be a hefty tax bill.

Good luck selling a 1,200 sq ft cabin for a million dollars. 

If you sell to buy other properties you will be looking at capital gain taxes. 

I would sell and take your gains.
