As it happens a tree was the source of water problems we were having in my own home so I can tell you from experience you should get rid of it and maybe plant a sapling somewhere else.

A newly planted sapling or seedling is likely to grow into a full grown tree over time which, in addition to providing you with similar protection, could also increase your property value.

Cut down and hauled off a bunch of saplings growing around a house. 

Does anyone have any experience with removing saplings from an overgrown yard? 

The key with children is to start young as it’s obviously easier to correct a sapling than a tree.

There are saplings growing though the chain on the fence and all around the trailer.

You run out to home depot buy and install your fence to find out later when the surveyor comes out that your corner is 4 feet over there and your rebar used to hold up that tree in the corner when it was a sapling.

The forest matters more than any particular tree in it, so worry about the forest rather than the one irrelevant sapling.
