CR itself is not unlike many of the countries around it -- beautiful beaches, both oceans, rainforest, mountains, etc ... however that didn't stop the US tourism industry from branding it "exotic and safe" and US folks traveled there en masse for the next two decades, much to the displeasure of . . . every country around it! 

Do you get extra points for fixing something in the rain when you live in a rainforest?

Unless you've lived here, a rain forest, or Hell, you cannot imagine how hot and humid it is in the summer.

I left Silicon Valley a couple of years ago and now live in the rainforest of the PNW; my rentals help me supplement my retirement.

why did you leave our beautiful rain forest?...

If you literally have no preference and are only looking through this lens then I would say a resounding:  Puerto Rico.Tax benefits thrown at you, island life, massive opportunities for adding value, access to US Gov'ment financing, rainforest and beach. 

A different experience where they are more submerged in the rain forest like a "Casa campo".
