Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group -- Jewish or otherwise.

The inquisition was a Christian event as much as the Jewish persecution and execution of the orginial Christians was a Judaism event.

There were several colonies and states that were formed based upon the religious beliefs of the Puritans, Quakers, Mormans, ect. who were escaping what what the religious persecution in the Euorpean states and wanted the freedom to practice their beliefs without governmental control.
