I would at least recommend you have them shop a policy for you.One thing we did note is that with hail damage to roofs, they seem to be decreasing coverage/increasing deductibles on that if ever needed.

Our biggest climate risks in central Texas are typically wind and hail, so anything of concern regarding the roof could get an applicant declined including trees too close to the roof surface, roof over 10 years old, etc.

Same thing happened where I am in areas where there were fires that destroyed towns or in areas where hail storms are more frequent.As for blame, there is no point blaming anyone, just learn from what happened and try to prevent it again (not fires because they will happen, but things like running out of water) or reduce the damage if it does happen again at that scale.

The only difference on paper is that the deductible for hail and winter storms is 5k instead of the 2,5k that I have with Farmers.
