You can do it (sort of), in that you do a "tax free roll-over" but you only have 60 days to put the money back into that or another IRA.Borrowing from retirement plans can be great when funding a project, when the plan is better suited to it (401K).

At a minimum prices will not be going up so you are getting a freeroll waiting to see what happens for 99 percent of deals. 20-30 percent correction.
