By and large, MTR residents are coming to work (or for relocation due to flood, fire or wind), and they approach finding housing with their analytical brain, not the emotional one.It's also not uncommon that the person tasked with finding accomodations for the MTR resident isn't going to be staying there at all.

The guy had crazy ideas for the property (turn it into a boarding rooms situation - which is illegal without proper zoning and licensing - this also would have involved reframing the home to accomodate).

You are never obligated to make accomodations for the tenant, you are simply required to allow them to make reasonable accomodations...and a structural door widening would not be 'reasonable'.

You could let her know that you are too small to make reasonable accomodation if the stairs become an issue, but probably not worth it.As far as rent to income ratio, this is something you should set before you start taking applications, then stick to your standards.

I had to use one in NYC when on vacation there one time and they charged 350.00 bucks and I was outraged,, but for me that does 4 to 10 closings a month as a seller it adds up to real money :)Not sure what the on line one charges because same thing this was with chicago title and I did not pay for it since we do a ton of closings with them they accomodate my stingy streak :)
