Someone told me just build homes out of masonry brick with concrete floors that slope slightly inward to a drain in the middle of each floor so you can hose it out between tenants.

As to the bus tours, you probably have an REI group near you, might have gone with a small group to open hoses and devised much the same show and tell session for the cost of gas.

Hi, yes, kind of, once you divide utilities as mentioned, you have some compliance issues to deal with, evemn compliance issues that won't really pertain to you as dividing a garden hose with a meter on it.

There is not currently a sprinkler system which I will have to change I think, its too much work to keep it watered, I have a Mickey Mouse hose system that I use that I would not expect a renter to use2.

If you are in a cold climate, disconnect outside hoses and store them for the winter, cover the outside water spigots, and inform tenants not to use these during the winter.Tune up the heating system, including changing furnace filters and checking the operation of the thermostat.

I also like the push fitting braided hoses for water heaters because they also work for clawfoot tubs.
