I have been in construction for 30 years, I still get inspections if the property is older than me, if not, I will get my maintenance guy and we will go over the place together (after all he is going to be dealing with the problems), it saves a few hundred bucks, if makes him feel good about getting a change of pace and I get to see the details of the place first hand.IF you do not have a maintenance guy, call the contractor that you plan on using for any work to be done, if they know they are getting the work from you they may do it for free or for the cost of a lunch.
