Here (in Georgia), a contract is considered binding at the time that every principal has received a copy of the signed contract.So, if I sign a real estate contract and send it to someone else (let's say a seller, for example), the contract is NOT binding at the time the seller signs it -- it's binding at the time that I actually receive it back in my hands (the one exception is if it's faxed to me, in which case it's when my fax machine receives it).Most time periods (inspection, financing and other contingency periods) are keyed off the "binding agreement" date, which again, is when all parties have received the signed contract.You need to find out what's standard in your state and your contracts.
