The inspection people came in and covered every window with plastic panes to reduce heat loss and drafts through the windows -- I spent a day unscrewing them last year when I was renovating the top apartment.

It may be more stain resistant in the lighter colors, but you can't put a hot pan right on it like you can granite since it's really just stone particles cast in plastic resin.

I have seen were the AC units are bolted down into concrete pads and copper water pipes replaced with plastic lines.

Some drainage issues can be simple to fix, some drainage issues are absolutely impossible to fix... the best you can hope for in a worst-case scenario is management (Installing a french drain, a sump pump, and a dehumidifier.)An extreme solution will involve re-grading the yard (sometimes this is possible, sometimes not), or excavating the basement wall(s) and installing waterproof membranes (AKA: plastic sheets), then filling up with a PROPERLY CONSTRUCTED french drain system (Most contractors wouldn't know a correct french drain if it bit them in the ***.)Good luck.
