As you mentioned, you can get overall higher profitability than in the US or Canada but, like in those market, long gone are the days when you could buy any property and make a killing as an STR.Too many people go to Mexico and buy any property because it looks good.

It’s true that it’s harder to find properties that will cash flow once you move out in higher cost of living areas, but overall returns make that a moot point in my opinion because appreciation is also much higher in these better locations.

I'll preface by saying I'm not a tax expert, but just went through a cost segregation as a REPS and this was my view.The benefit from pulling out these items coupled with the bonus depreciation far outweighs any incrementally higher taxes in later years, by quite a large margin.
