I know Apartments dot com will collect rent and they do not charge you a fee if you don't want it rush delivered to your account. 

Where the floor is cut to accommodate a stairway, the removed structure must be supported by a header and in a basement that header is usually supported by a post near the bottom of the stairway.

If they can get you, for example, 10k back from the IRS and charge you 1k, you have the peace of mind knowing it was done properly and still come out ahead.

I can't comment on the actual value since I don't know where it is actually located, but even the brand new properties sold at top value are sold to investors with the only real expectation of resale is to another investor - not owner applicant.I would suggest you be patient and don't rush into judgement good or bad.

Our heart wants to go ahead with the work, but I'm not sure if the math makes sense.
