I think it is a very very bad idea and am quite concerned that people are brushing off the implications of this invasive maneuver by Denver. 

A load of say 500 extra pounds (chair and people) isn't a static dead force but instead will be increased with the swinging motion that occurs on the seat pressuring the beam above.

Soon after that, you will need a hammer, screwdriver, paint brush and skilled trade relationships. 

I don't mind seeing the stains of hydro-static pressure puddling, but as soon as one gets into mold territory and then says "is it legal" for a bank to call time out, I have to question how accurately you are portraying the situation.
