Fed Hill has always had that charm.

But my parents, my family, we've always bought old houses and renovated them and I GET them, which is a good thing in a city like Richmond, VA which is still full of charming old houses, with great bones, thankfully.

I could also buy something nice to live in DC for myself (a walkable neighborhood close to metro appeals to me - I’d rather not live in suburbs right now) and slowly 1031 some properties to cheaper rentals in Baltimore (I’ve always had a weird place in my heart for charm city after spending weeks out there with a buddy in college).

Thanks @Allen Fletcher There is a house around the corner from this (7 houses down) with less charm, but same sq ft, build date, yard size, etc. that doesn't have the traffic that this house does.

Since you are going to be doing a total gut and structural work, city (if they would allow it) is going to ask you to put in some form of fire suppression system (another added cost).  

Don't be fooled by his charm and eloquent sales pitch.

Plenty of value priced, old world charm in Colorado Springs housing stock.

At that auction you had to pay 100% of your bid plus costs within minutes of bidding, so there was no time to go get a mortgage and that suppresses the pricing. 

Worked like a charm and went quite smoothly.As an aside, I bought the property for a stellar price.
