I would let them know that you have documented proof that they screwed up, and if they won't waive the fees then you will make it your personal mission in life to leave a negative review (with proof) on any website that allows reviews. 

As for other properties, you can use websites showing tax records here https://www.crimpr.net/ and perhaps use skip tracing services like TLO to find owners. 

We advertise properties on at least 20 websites as well as the MLS, so other agents are exposed to it.
