We have a duplex that sits on top of garages for each unit, and then has a detached 2-car garage with its own power/meter, and even a fireplace, and they're all rented separately.

If there is a fireplace, we look into the firebox too to make sure they are not burning prohibited materials and that they are keeping the firebox clear of ashes.When entering a room, we look around in a clockwise manner and down/up too.

There is a natural fire place in the first floor unit.
