In your notice refer to the Lease agreement they have signed and mention that their actions are against it and sheriff will be immediately notified on a next occasion. 

Of the almost 200 attendees I would say a good 50 flew in for the occasion.

@Ram Srinivasan I'll be upfront that we have thus far avoided land contracts - my partner and I have entertained them on a couple of occasions, but that was as far as it went.

This may make it harder for you to qualify, but removes the possibility of you committing mortgage fraud by lying about the occupancy.I would strongly recommend AGAINST keeping a unit vacant for you to use on occasion.
