@Patrick Hopkins 'The first duplex I actually made it a condition of the contract to vacate the current tenants prior to closing due to the condition and (backstory I am a police officer for the city my first building is located in) I had arrested the lower level tenants a few times.

some guy in Napa CA just would not listen kept going and going.. until finally he was arrested..

@Mason Hjelmeland, sorry to say, but I'd advise you get legal counsel from an experienced l/t attorney.It is a sticky wicket, in part because you don't mention if he was just arrested or convicted, or what his incarceration entails.Was he by any chance rioting?  

He was quickly arrested and is being charged with a bunch of different things.

I was never informed of this until recently and I don't know how he could have sold my property without my consent but it may have been another scam he could have planned on the potential buyer.Ironically, I got the news of McNutt's arrest from another management company I hired after McNutt and terminated also within a short period of time because they were going out of business without telling me ahead of time.

I couldn't have my daughter risking not having a place to live if we were to get evicted, or worse, the cops come and arrest everyone, so I talk to the property manager to see what my options are, and she makes me sign a Lease Amendment Concerning Tenant Change to get me off the lease.
