But if it's just a house for you to live in, not an investment, then financially speaking you can't do better than living for free since the home you live in generally tends to be a wash or lose money when you factor in everything - maintenance, furnishing, repairs, etc. 

I'm big on just trying things and seeing how it works but to try Airbnb, I'll have to furnish the apartment for at least $2,500.If it does not work out, I'll have wasted that money.Hoping to lean on the knowledge of the BP community.

If you get a safe area I think you could do really well renting furnished.  

I’m in the process of acquiring my 4th STR, and for the first time plan to furnish and manage the property.  

The idea of furnishing the unit sounds really fun to me and also the idea that it could potentially cash flow is also very titillating 😄.
