Not saying don't ask for opinions, but it's important to understand how much to rely on external advice.

My current state of mind is telling me to find a property that’s less costly, so I could have a cushion of cash just in case an unforeseen externalities arises after the purchase.

I don’t see ya in a bubble, which my understanding is an externally forced market inflation.

But here's my question: If one spouse is NOT drawing external income, they are not able to take advantage of 401(k) sweet tax deferred options.

I figure the landlord is responsible for common areas external to the apartment (hallways, entryway etc) but common areas within the apartment (living room, dining room, kitchen,bath) should be shared responsibilty of tenants.

I know this because both neighbors in front of and behind my house have had huge external remodeling projects going on for years, without permits, and no work being done at all in 2018 so far. 

Worse things happen to me than having external controls enforcing my financial plan.  

The ones that no one has seen and they can just make a deal with the seller without all of the other external noise.
