The standard questions I ask are: What would a background check reveal about you; what do you like to do in your free time; are you currently in a lease, if so, why are you leaving.

It's just that in soft market conditions, sub-par candidates feel they can push the landlord around and "force" their way into our property by hiding what does not meet our criteria, which of course upon screening it all gets revealed, or in some cases even by threatening. 

If he isn't willing to show you the contract, he probably doesn't have one, he doesn't think that you're legitimate, or his wholesale fee is very large and he's concerned if he reveals it, that you will want to pay less.

A quick google search will reveal them all.

I don't want to actually call the lender and ask, thus revealing my hand, but I also don't want to assume it's okay and get caught off-guard.

@Denise Evans I'm hoping that the photos taken during the inspection will reveal a bit more. 

It feels like it's an extra layer of effort to meet with agents, brokers, etc. that are less willing to reveal everything to you unless you ask specific questions because they might be speaking to you in their non-native language as well.

. $400 and an elevation survey revealed that our flood insurance will actually decrease, so we’ve decided to continue with renting after all.So here’s the question...should we increase the asking price $100 since we had so much interest the first go-around?

I suppose a very thorough due diligence process could reveal that.
