It's not like a bigger metro such as Nashville, where the city council is trying to kick STRs out of the town.

Detroit's Building Safety Engineering & Environemental Department (BSEED) is trying to convince Detroit's City Council to make the LBPI every 3 years to coincide with the city rental inspection period.

Could this be a possible work around for those areas or do they (the city council) typically put a 6 month minimum for rentals in that area?  

According to NAA and National Multifamily Housing Council Dallas-Fort Worth has the largest gap in supply of MF units across the nation: needs 270K units by 2035 to balance the demand (chart below).

I don't own any, but can tell you the City Council approved a zoning ordinance limiting the areas they can 'legally' be operated.  

I was the National President of The Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) in 2012.

We have council and they will go over everything before anything official is established, but I would hope to learn from the wisdom here and pay less to council for looking at this longer then required.

In Seattle the law, by city council,  requires the 1st qualified tenant.

While I am a bit annoyed with the City Council and their ability to constantly create "solutions" for problems that don't exist it is still a good place to invest.
