It's really more a fusion of desperation and extreme stupidity.

I lived in the cheapest apartment I could find (within bike riding distance to work), ate a lean cuisine for lunch 5 days a week and shopped at Nordstroms Rack for work clothes. 

We bought our last 2 vehicles with cash around 2012- (2007 F150, 100K miles, $12K , needed 4 door for baby seats and a 2011 Ford Fusion with 9K miles $13K).

I just recently bought a clean title, normal wear 07 Ford Fusion for 450$ with 130k miles.

The Italian and German cuisine was second to none.

We have authentic top-notch cuisine from all over the world, attributable to our great diversity.

I haven't used it in a rental, but one floor I really like is the floating stuff from Fusion. 2/3 of my basement has their 12x24 "slate" tiles - they look nice, and whatever that surface is made out of is diamond hard.
