furnished rentals are going to be the ticket here for a while.Also keep in mind and I think this is pretty important as well.  

ie, wind damages the roof and that lets in rain that damages sheetrock, floors, furnishings,...   

Not to mention the upfront cost of furnishing. 

I suspect few will want to rent furnished units for the significant time it takes to rebuild.
