Do you make them under the original owner s name or my own name ?

Certainly nothing ground-breaking in terms of ideas here, however I'll be very hands on (and on site) during the process to make sure that every step of the way is executed to a high standard and very carefully.Once I've hopefully developed a successful track record and gained experience, my next goal would be to move on to commercial assets (think multi-family, industrial etc) so that I can leverage my existing investor network and real estate knowledge to raise 3rd party equity and take on bigger projects.

That is under almost 1,000-year old principals of "equity" followed in English and then American jurisprudence.

Hoping to find a local community to get involved with, maybe through Bigger Pockets.

It's the same thing when you put your info on sites like Zillow, or Redfin looking for a home.You are only going to get the realtors or lenders who are signed up with the website.

You can take his advice to heart many others on this site are merely brokers..

Meaning, if you take the money only, you would have depreciation recapture from your cost basis up to the original purchase price of the building (not including the land cost because it wasn't depreciable), plus a capital gain up to the insurance proceeds.Hope this makes sense.
