I do recall, though, several friends lamenting their investment properties being foreclosed on when many on the base deployed to Desert Storm.

when i rent my properties and this is in the desert areas of california small towns i list price lower than any other investor   in the area  and i sent out post cards to the people whoi lived in the area. i always get my property rented in 3 days max.     

I'm looking to buy an investment property in the desert of CA, for high end renters who come for tennis and Coachella.

I just got back from doing a week of "market research" in some heavily touristed areas of the desert southwest, and it opened my eyes.

So it feels like a deserted island getaway.

I’m actually going to see a deal tomorrow in the desert, it’s only about an hr and a half from Orange County.....looks like there are opportunity for decent cashflow out there.

We have a remote so cal desert park that does not get alot of street traffic so we need to get a bit more creative.

As this is a park in a great location which is also a "high desert" climate, dusty roads are mostly accepted across town. 

@Bill Coleman, As Jay was saying, wetlands are hyper local & definitely a bugger in CO (a high desert).

I have been painting all my units in Home Depot's Behr Gobi Desert eggshell, in all rooms.
