The reason commercial transactions are less regulated (not that they are unregulated) is that those dealing in commerce are deemed to be more sophisticated in such dealings.

Use public transportation if you have to, but I wouldn't recommend you try to wholesale virtually until you've gotten more hands-on real estate experience.

And you want some unlicensed and unregulated person with minimal training education and experience handling that responsibility..

You have to know what size door to buy, go to the store and purchase it, be able to transport it, know how to remove the old one, know how to square a new one so it doesn't rub or hit, and know how to paint it without ugly paint lines and roller marks, and know how to install the knob and/or cut in the hinges for proper operation. 

The bigger the job the more likely there may be a deposit and coordination needed for transportation of materials.

Why that is happening is not because of transportation costs or the cost of labor.

While I do not know anything about container houses, as a logistics professional, I do know Chicago is a major transportation hub with access to lots of containers.It will be interesting to see how the city/suburbs' building departments would react to this.
