Thanks everyone.Our plumber said that no such reliable vent conversion device exists (I thought I saw one on This Old House, but I may be mistaken).  

Couple years ago on a rehab we were having trouble with vandals.We put in both covert and overt video recording devices and let the neighborhood know.The trouble stopped; although the vandals would march by and give the finger to the overt camera.

They used to have a code that made it easy to access but now they have a scanniing device and key bar code that gives entry and is changed often.Just ask for a listing of everything on the market over 6 months old etc.

Think back to some of the recent sports championship celebrations.Tonight is a night to stay home and maybe clean a gun or two either way.
