Peter- when Realtors enter a home into the mls they are supposed to put in the taxes without showing any exemptions.

If you sell a property you bought as a primary residence and have lived in for 2 out of the previous 5 years you can sell it and take the 121 exemption gain tax free.

@Steve MilkaThat is correct, you can use the capital gains exemption only once every two years.Also, you can only get the exemption if you lived in the property for 2 of the last 5 years.
