Another update: this isn't "new" per se but realized I never posted anything about my insurance. 

A and D loan to build said subdivision  try getting one of these from a major bank9. portfolio loans if I wanted them basically unlimited with 25 % down in the PDX market and 1.25 DCR... but I am not a buy and holder per se I am a buy and sell guy and actually selling the last of my rentals I only have 9 or so left10. 

Hello, I've been renting my house with the se management company for 3 years as I'm in Venezuela and can't do much from there.

I have been checking out the local listings trying to get a feel for the SE Portland/Greshem area.

Not rich per se, but enough to be free to enjoy life.I am keeping the goals portion (not the overall post, sorry again!)

I am always interested in data or personal accounts from others out in the trenches.One anecdotal tidbit I can share...last week I worked with two buyers buying in SE Bakersfield that are commuting to Los Angles.  

We just moved to Northern Virginia and real estate is costly in the area but we are from Oklahoma and hope to eventually be in the Oklahoma City area and have been thinking about focusing around the Norman / SE Oklahoma City / Tinker Air Force Base area for rentals.

Other than selling stock options we have not invested in equities per se for over 30 years.But it's amusing to listen to 'friends', (who have often ridiculed our REI endeavors), desperately seeking solace & hoping their 401(k)'s etc recover from these reoccurring & inevitable pullbacks so they can still AFFORD retirement????
