Hey Andrew,Thanks for the reply, I should have been clearer.When I say affordable housing Im referring to generally making homes more affordable, nothing to do with the legal concept of affordable housing. 

I believe this place is legally non-conforming, but for my timeline, I cannot take the risk of losing a month if the inspector disagrees.

I believe this should not be legal to existing contracts/leases and should only be legal for new contracts/leases.  

Lenders can use legal ADUs to help qualify for the mortgage, so people that didn't even want to house hack before, may be in the market to do so simply to afford the type of house they want. 

The taxes, insurance, legal, upkeep, vacancies will drive you nuts if a few hundred dollars ruins your day. ;-) When foreclosures are common, (which they are not right now), I send out two thousand letters a week.
