With people still coming back, (parents that stay in the city they left Katrina for while their children finished high school... people like my mother) i can say that with the distressed home and steadily rising market I see positive growth potential.I am flat broke... but I have been helping my grandparents and living with them during my college years... so i am not this lazy kid who wants to make it over night.

Welcome,Maybe start out slow when it comes to real estate versus your current occupation / fieldMeaning use your medical field connections( watch doctors, nurses, and etc wanting to invest into your newly performing real estate business )FYI - Having a good paying employment will make it a lot easier to obtain loans and refinancing network deal after deal

Personally I think its just an excuse for him to stay out of my mothers way for a few hours a day. :) But my Dad would always drag me along as a kid and so I learned quite a bit about home repair and upkeep.
