@Michael Greer unless it’s a small studio or 1-bedroom condo that doesn’t pass local codes for a child’s room, my understanding is that it would be a fair housing violation to not allow the child or charge additional rent or deposit.

My guess is they aren't the exception to the rule, so since then I've been very diligent in my midterm rentals about asking for a large deposit (midterm rental deposits should be equal to one month's rent or more).
