It sounds like you moved not out of desire but out of necessity.

As you are saying, you'd have to move Title to your personal name (Title should be with the LLC right now) and get a homeowner/landlord insurance policy as well as an umbrella policy if you desire. 

You had one desired outcome that was outside of the parameters of what we were able to make a reality.

I have experience living in Kazan, USSR, during the Kazan Syndrome period (gangs on the streets in 1984 -1989), and I know exactly what kind of people they are, so I had no desire to socialize and make friends.

We're not looking for an immediate huge ROI, but would like enough to cover costs and pay for our flights a few times per year(plus a cushion for repairs, upkeep, etc), while we ultimately wait the 10 years for Tulum to go through its growing pains, and then have a much more valuable property on our hands.Even with this conservative plan, we would still need to locate the right property in the right location that appeals to us and renters NOW and is poised to become more desirable as Tulum blossoms.

The Coastal environment and remoteness is not for everyone, but for those that desire a 'Big-Sur-esque' experience without the eight figure price point, it can be one of the few attractive and somewhat affordable options.
